Probably all of you already know, that I am as much of a photographer as I am a musician. Choir conductor to be exact. But I teach a lot. My favourite music subject is ear training. I have a lot of empathy in me, and this is why I love it so much I think.
What I recently noticed is the most common group of musicians in my ear training classes are men. For singing lessons there is no rule, but in the case of ear training definitely is. I was wondering why…
Most women that I taught over the years were very creative and musical. The interpretation was never a problem. Feelings have been always first. I the case of understanding music and noticing the music intervals or harmony the situation was completely different.
Men are perfectionist. They need to understand first. I think this is the basic difference between the genders in the case of my music lessons. I hope that I can combine both of those approaches. As a teacher, I should.
September came and I have some new students. All of them learn ear training. I really like conducting those classes through the Lessonface. The online lessons are no problem. That is the basic difference between ear training and singing. I do not teach singing online. I just can’t be as good as I am when there are so many things between my student’s voice and my ear. That is too much. Gladly in the ear training classes, the case is different.
At this point, most of my students are American. Lessonface is an American platform, so that is no surprise. But it is getting more and more popular in Europe.
If you were thinking about music lessons, you should book a free trial lesson with me. Let us get to know each other. I would love to help you start your music journey.
