Ghosts – Hania Rani | music

I was surprised by this album. I was expecting Hania-style minimalism and I wasn’t disappointed with it, that’s a fact. But where did the piano go?

I’m not a fan of electronic music, and in the case of this album I should be, since I liked it. I did, despite the amount of artificial sounds and the lack of piano (to be clear: there is a piano, but not in a slightly different way).

I am not a fan of throwing electronics into every type of music. And today, electronics are being shoved everywhere. Into folk, rock and, as you can see here, into minimalism, too. XXI century it is. I’m a fan of analogue, traditional solutions. So no, this album won’t stay with me for long.

I don’t understand the moment when Hania Rani became more of a singer than a pianist. I skipped that moment. Although I can honestly say that whatever she does for me she will always be mainly a composer. And that’s probably the best way to describe her. I am not going to the concert in Lucerne. I was at her concert in Poznań, at a time when she was not yet so well-known. It was wonderful. I want that feeling to stay with me.
