I have counted 7 stages of creating “imaginary worlds gallery” works. From taking a photo by developing the negative, then scanning, printing, painting, rescanning and printing on canvas. Sevenfold satisfaction.
Today I have scans almost ready to print on canvas. Still some retouching, a few dust specks to remove. I decided on two sizes: 60×90 cm and 80×120 cm. However, I’m staying with 2:3. I decided on canvas primarily because I don’t need to frame these works. The canvas is ready to hang. It also does not need glass. Besides, I consider my art as bordering between photography and painting. Hence the choice.
All scans made by Filip Karpinski. I am a long-time fan of his work and return to him again and again with my negatives and prints. He has his studio in Poznan (Poland). Now I’m thinking as if to send him negatives to scan, because here in Switzerland I haven’t yet found anyone who can compete with his work.
