Extraordinary concerts are just around the corner.

This Friday marks the beginning of an intensive period of rehearsals with Vocalino Wettingen as we prepare for our 20th anniversary concert series. To celebrate this special occasion, we are honored to welcome composer, conductor, and influencer Eric Whitacre, who will join us in this unique project. The coming days promise to be filled with inspiring music that speaks directly to the heart.

Working on The Sacred Veil has been one of the most moving musical journeys I’ve experienced. In addition to singing the second soprano part, I was also able to support some of the sectional rehearsals, particularly where the piece’s intricate rhythms and harmonies required extra attention. What fascinates me most is the way Whitacre uses his compositional language to shape this deeply emotional story: the interwoven polyrhythms, the shimmering clusters, and the fragile balance between intensity and silence.

For us singers, one of the greatest challenges has been breathing together-finding unity not only in the fast, energetic passages but also in the slow, sustained moments that require absolute tonal precision on a single pitch, often in the lower register. These passages demand both technical discipline and a shared presence, and it is precisely there that the piece becomes truly transformative.
