Red Hot Chili Peppers concert | music

I would never think that I will be so amazed by a rock band stadium concert. I am evolving. Besides my shortness and ear sensibility, it was a really great evening. I heard The Mars Volta, don’t know really what to say about them. I saw Iggy Pop in all his glory, his energy and his astonishing persona. I was charmed by Peppers’ visual performance. Every single detail was carefully planned. I never would think that their concerts look like this. The scene-sized screen with amazing colours and live animations. Dream.

Somehow, in the case of their live music, I was expecting a little bit more. The jams were short and unfinished, their contact with themselves unspoken, but not quite clear to listeners. I am thinking of them very highly, and maybe that’s why I was so sure they are so great. I still think they are, but maybe I am comparing them in the wrong way. They are rock performers. They do not want to be perfect. They shouldn’t be. They are as good as they can be in their specific field. Just it.

The night wasn’t over after the concert. I was in Warsaw with my husband and our friends. After midnight we arrived at the city centre, where we drank litres of beer sitting on a street because there was no room for us in a bar. Strangers were approaching us, taking and telling unbelievable weird stories to us. It was the shortest night in a 2023 year. When we were coming back from the very late snack, the sun was coming up.

One perfect evening.

  1. I was at The Mars Volta performance of their last year before the last break. They were wow, but in comparison with their other previous performances as i saw on YT and as ppl said, this one in Telaviv was too cold, short and low energy – all the signs of the band in trouble.

    1. Wow! I never heard of them before. They are so diverse and so inconsistent, that I really don’t know what to think about them. I like the vocalist and the energy, but something was missing in their performance. I don’t know exactly what. But in general, I think it is good that they decided to play again. They play a lot of interesting music. Thanks for the comment!

      1. it was also too hard to get them from the start, but when you are hooked, you start understanding of their pazzle of sometimes when their music of the managed cacophony directs to the heavy harmony. I started listening for their albums because of their sole guitarist Omar Rodríguez-Lopez. I heard his collaboration albums with John Frusciante and always loved what they played together. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO9jkruNd78 ) and their album – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12dO4WOfoms&list=PLclODpQJhNz4nKQxJrI3g9UcVWbtNVvEE
btw John was a part of some The Mars Volta albums recordings.

      2. Yes! I know it very well! The album is great. It was a nice collaboration. And you have a right with The Mars Volta – there is some form in the madness 😉
