A Little Jazz Mass and John Rutter in Eschenbach: Christmas Project for 2026

Since February, I have had the pleasure of working with the church choir in Eschenbach, in the canton of Lucerne. It is a choir with decades of history, rich musical experience, and, above all, a genuine joy of singing together. One of its beautiful traditions is organising two annual projects that are open to all interested singers.

As this is my first year with the choir, I decided to approach our Christmas project in a slightly different—and perhaps even courageous—way. For the choir, it is a step into the unknown. For me, it is an opportunity to bring together singers from my different musical worlds, including people from my gospel and pop projects.

On 20 December 2026, we will perform two wonderful and contrasting works: A Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott and a selection of Christmas Carols by John Rutter. We will be accompanied by a jazz trio featuring Hermes Luc on piano, Luzi Niederhauser on double bass, and Sascha Frischknecht on drums.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I believe that some of the greatest beauty can be found in the unknown and at the meeting points of different art forms. This project lives exactly in that space. It combines the traditions of a church choir with jazz rhythms, contemporary choral writing, and singers from different musical backgrounds. I am deeply curious to see what kind of artistic and human experience will emerge from this encounter.

The project is open to additional singers who would like to join us. If you love choral music, if you are curious about crossing musical boundaries, or if you simply want to spend a few months creating something unique with others, I would be delighted to welcome you to this project.
